What Does the Course Cover?

Clinical theories • Acupoints • Meridians • Both traditional and contemporary techniques
This program combines clinical theories, acupoints, meridians, common treatment techniques, and more. Audio-visual lectures, video demonstrations, and self-paced study prepare doctors to integrate safe and effective acupuncture into practice.  Our Acupuncture Program is accepted by many states as either complete or partial training in Chiropractic Acupuncture. Chiropractors may practice Acupuncture in thirty US states and the District of Columbia, as well as a number of other locations around the globe.
Basic Theory Course Group

An introduction to the core concepts of acupuncture physiology, pathology, diagnostic frameworks, and treatment principles.

Acupuncture Points & Meridians Group

A study of all the primary acupuncture meridians and points, including many extra points, secondary meridians, and point classifications. Lectures are complemented by video demonstrations.

Acupuncture Microsystems Group

A clinical exploration of Ear, Hand, and Scalp Acupuncture focusing on the special efficacy of individual microsystems, and how to make the best use of each approach.

Acupuncture Techniques Group

Video demonstrations and lectures are combined to clearly present the most common treatment techniques associated with acupuncture. Clean needle technique, basic and advanced needling techniques, heat therapy, electrical stimulation, and instrument assisted soft tissue manipulation therapies are all addressed in some detail.

Acupuncture for the Treatment of Pain Group

Building upon the material covered in the preceding courses, this group covers the diagnosis of pain, treatment protocols and techniques for many painful conditions encountered in daily practice, and guidance on how to fashion individualized treatment protocols for most all painful conditions.

Foundations of Chinese Medicine Group

This group of ten 5-hour classes provides the participant with a solid foundation in the theories of Chinese medicine, and acupuncture.  The Foundations of Chinese Medicine, by Giovanni Maccocia, upon which this group of courses is based, is the most commonly used text on Chinese medicine in acupuncture schools and colleges around the world, and is a main text recommended by the NBCE for exam preparation. The participant in this group of courses, learns to assess patients according to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and form traditional diagnoses for digestive, respiratory, urogenital, women’s health, and other internal disorders. Treatment principles, suggestions for points, treatment techniques, and even some herbal medicine, are addressed in many instances.

Exam Prep

This 2-hour course reviews the material needed to prepare for a national board exam in acupuncture, such as those offered by the NBCE and the ABCA/CCA. For easy access to additional study, participants desiring a more in-depth review of any specific topic covered in this exam prep course, are referred throughout, to specific online courses addressing each topic.
